Iosif V. Sorokin

Professional Profile
Iosif, an associate with Larson • King, focuses his practice in the areas of immigration, labor and employment, and business litigation. Iosif helps employers obtain work authorization for their employees and comply with federal immigration laws. He also advises individuals who want to sponsor themselves or their family members for immigration status in the US. As an immigrant himself (originally from Baku, Azerbaijan), Iosif believes in taking the time to truly understand his client’s backgrounds, in order to help them achieve their goals in a personalized and compassionate way. He represents clients all around the country, as well as outside of the US.

Before joining Larson • King, Iosif worked at a large Minneapolis law firm, where he counseled national healthcare organizations, academic institutions, multinational companies and small businesses on immigration matters. His foreign national clients included physicians, researchers, IT specialists and business executives. He handled employment-based cases, such as H-1Bs, TNs, O-1, labor certifications (PERM), national interest waivers, outstanding researcher petitions, and many others. He also worked with hospitals, health systems, and individual physicians on J-1 waivers of all types.

While attending law school, Iosif clerked at an immigration law firm in San Francisco and volunteered with the East Bay Sanctuary Covenant, providing legal services to asylum seekers in the Bay Area. He has also volunteered with HIAS, the nation’s oldest refugee rights organization, in their efforts to aid asylum seekers from Eritrea and Sudan.

In his free time, Iosif volunteers for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and coaches tennis.
